The Gambia Armed Forces Cooperative Credit Union (GAFCCU) on Friday 22 August 2025, donated the sum of D15,000 to Dawda Camara, an ex-soldier of GAF (Intake 26) and member of GAFCCU who was in need of support to purchase certain accessories for his wheelchair.
The support reflects GAFCCU’s continued commitment to the welfare of its members (both serving and retired) particularly those facing challenges after years of meritorious service to the nation.
Speaking at the presentation ceremony, Colonel Lamin K Sanyang, the Manager of GAFCCU reaffirmed the Credit Union’s dedication to promoting solidarity, compassion, and social responsibility within the armed forces, its community and beyond.
The beneficiary, for his part, expressed heartfelt appreciation to the Board, Management and entire membership of GAFCCU for the invaluable assistance. He noted that the donation will significantly help to ameliorate his mobility constraints and quality of life.
The event was attended by some Board members, staff and relatives of the ex-soldier who also expressed similar sentiments.
